Outdoor Hams, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, formed under the Non-Profit Corporation Act of North Carolina. It was established in 2008 by Mark Kelley, KJ4EZV, and Brian Fleischhauer, KB3QZG, who are amateur radio operators and outdoor sports enthusiasts. The principal office is located in Raleigh, NC.

Our main purposes in operating Outdoor Hams, Inc. are to promote the use of amateur radio, commonly called “ham radio,” as an educational resource and encourage its use in outdoor activity among North Carolina’s adolescents. In doing so, we hope to inspire and prepare young individuals for careers in fields such as radio technology, radio history, communication science, and media law. At the same time, mainly through creative applications of amateur radio in outdoor activities such as cycling, backpacking, and hiking, we aim to develop in adolescents the habits of an active lifestyle to improve their general health and wellness.
